The Dorchester County Historical Society is a private, nonprofit, organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, maintenance and exhibition of artifacts, documents and other items relative to Dorchester’s history.

A watermen's museum dedicated to the craftsmen and culture of the traditional Eastern Shore wooden boat building industry. There is a unique collection of boat models, including skipjacks, bugeyes, pungys, log canoes, ram and other merchant vessels.

The Ruark BoatWorks Division of the Richardson Foundation is open for visitors who have an interest in wooden boat construction.

We sponsor programs that help document and record the lives of individuals and families from the time when the first settlers arrived, and the following generations, who made their livelihood by practicing their trade, and those who supported them.

'Spocott' today has the only existing post windmill for grinding grain in Maryland. See the windmill in action grinding grain during the annual Spocott Windmill Day, usually held in May.

This 19th century one-room African American schoolhouse was moved to this location in 1867. It is one of the oldest Maryland schools to be organized and maintained by a black community.

This museum is dedicated to the rural life and industries located in and near Vienna.
